About the Stanford Sites Platform
Stanford Sites is a free tool for building and managing websites for at Stanford University for university-related work. Stanford Sites features integration with other Stanford systems and adheres to Stanford's standards for accessibility and branding. Websites on Stanford Sites are hosted in the cloud on a system designed for fast performance across the globe and high availability. Maintenance and security updates are managed centrally at no cost.
Stanford Sites is built on the latest version of Drupal. SWS releases new features, integrations, theme updates, and bug fixes 6-8 times per year.
Features include:
- Security, maintenance, hosting, database updates and more all handled by Stanford Web Services.
- Sites are backed up nightly. Sites can be restored to a previous state from the last 30 days. Site snapshots are available for 180 days.
- A complete copy of a site can be created to enable site restructuring or copy editing projects.
- Support through Service Now, office hours, and monthly onboarding sessions.
